Advancing Pharmacy, Protecting Patients — Our 2026 Legislative Agenda
The Pharmacists Society of the State of New York (PSSNY) champions policies that empower pharmacists, protect patients, and strengthen community access to care. Our 2026 legislative priorities reflect the issues most critical to our members and the patients they serve.
Top Priorities for 2026:
- Patient Access to Pharmacy Act (A5882/S5939) — Establishes a commercial reimbursement floor to sustain access to community pharmacy care.
- OMIG Reform — Ensures transparency and fairness in audits and enforcement.
- Increase in Medicaid Rate — Calls for a long-overdue statutory adjustment to reinvest state savings into providers.
- Ban on PBM Ownership of Pharmacies — Prevents anti-competitive practices and patient steering.
- Test and Treat Expansion — Authorizes pharmacists to provide front-line care through testing and treatment.
Other Priorities: Scope expansion, technician standardization, workplace protections, 340B safeguards, collaborative practice authority, immunization expansion, and drug price transparency.
Together, these priorities aim to strengthen the profession of pharmacy and improve patient outcomes across New York State.
