“The aim of the Society shall be to unite the pharmacists of the State for mutual assistance, encouragement, and improvement in order to maintain the standard of pharmacy practice at a high professional and ethical level”.
Welcome to PSSNY!
Pharmacy is at a critical juncture, our profession is under assault by outside interests seeking to minimize the role of pharmacists, and we are not yet recognized and practicing as the healthcare providers we are capable of being. As a result, jobs are being eliminated and pharmacies are closing.
What does this mean for our members? That just signing up and paying your dues isn’t enough. We need you to support your affiliate and to support PSSNY. Attend events, support our sponsors, and ask your colleagues to do the same. If they are not, find out why and let them know why you feel differently. And as always, know your legislators, both state and federal, we need champions to lead our cause.
As I said in June at my installation as PSSNY’s President, PSSNY needs you and pharmacy needs you. It’s time to Get Off the Bench and it doesn’t matter what we have done, or not done, for the profession in the past. It’s time to Get Off the Bench and make sure that the stories of our pharmacists and our patients are heard and accounted for. We are the providers that are some of the most trusted and accessible professionals in the country. We are the ones that will work with our colleagues to take control of our profession and our future. It’s time.
PSSNY is respected throughout the state and throughout the country as a leader in the profession of pharmacy and I look forward to working with you to continue our proud legacy.
Steve Moore, PharmD
