The Under My Wing Mentorship Program is designed to connect students and dynamic independent pharmacy owners to explore ownership as a career path; a real world experience where a mentor will take a student under their wing. The focus of this mentorship is in owning/operating independent pharmacy. The Mentorship Program provides the connections between independent pharmacy owners and students, and highlights the importance of being an active member with NCPA and/or PSSNY. More importantly, it helps bridge the gap between potential owners, potential sellers, as well as future employers and employees.
Mentors much have at least 2 years of ownership experience
Responsibilities of mentor include:
communicating with mentees on a regular basis
provide inside industry expertise
provide networking and coaching opportunities
The program will begin enrolling students when they return to campus in the fall and we are hoping to have a list of mentors ready by that time. The program officially kicks off on October 25th, 2016 and runs for the academic year. We are asking that any potential mentors be able to dedicate an hour a month to the program for one on one time with the mentee. That hour may be spent in person, over the phone, via Skype, etc.
Members of the Mentor Committee will be attending NCPA's annual convention to help NCPA promote the program to other states and we would love see our mentors in New Orleans. For more information: http://www.ncpanet.org/meetings/annual-convention.
