He previously owned World’s Fair Pharmacy from 1977-2010. World’s Fair/Total Care Pharmacy, an independent community pharmacy, specializing in providing care to hemo-dialysis centers, post- transplant patients and individuals who reside in group homes for the developmentally disabled. For the past twenty-five years Charles has been working as a Consultant Pharmacist servicing thirty agencies throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Ulster County.
Charles served as the President and Chairman of the Board of The Pharmacists Society of New York (PSSNY) from 2014 to 2015. Charles has also served as President and Chairman of Board of the Italian American Pharmacist Society (IPS), as well as President and Chairman of the Board of the New York City Pharmacy Society (NYCPS). While NYCPS President, he was called upon to work with the Emergency Preparation Team from the New York City Department of Health (DOH) to develop a plan to mobilize pharmacies if a chemical bio terrorism attack should occur. Charles’ most noted accomplishment was during his NYCPS leadership role when he coordinated a team, consisting of NYCPS and PSSNY leadership along with their respective lobbyists. Their combined effort accomplished the impossible by successfully having two laws in successive years passed by the legislature and signed into law by NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo. The new laws allow patients in NYS to have a choice in having a community pharmacy fill their prescription rather than mandated to use mail order. NYCPS and PSSNY accomplishments under Charles’ leadership forged the advancement of Pharmacy within the state of NY and their successes have been followed and emulated by other states in similar situations facing the pharmacy profession.
Charles recently has become the consultant pharmacist for Samaritan-Daytop Addiction treatment Centers and Metro Health Centers in NYC, which are, designated Federal Qualified Health Centers. Charles was the recipient of the St. Johns University Preceptor of the Year Award in 1998 and the Bowl of Hygeia Award in 2005.
