Learning Objectives:


At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

§ Identify the epidemiology and pathophysiology of persistent asthma;

§ Identify the stepwise approach to managing patients with persistent asthma;

§ State, compare and contrast medications used as controllers in the management of patients with asthma;

§ List the newly approved agents for the management of asthma and discuss their efficacy and adverse effect profile;

§ List how pharmacists can identify and resolve adherence issues in patients with persistent asthma.
