At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

-          state the ethical imperative for reducing medication error in patient care;

-          define the role of "provider" authority in reducing medication error and improving outcomes;

-          describe the impact of federal regulation on disposal of unwanted pain medication;

-          list safety-related elements of new compounding law and regulation and the expected impact;

-          assess NYS legislative proposals designed to improve medication safety;

-          articulate the impact of changes to pharmacy-related elements of the drug supply chain.
